Progress, of sorts

I had forgotten what a long slow struggle it is to immerse myself in a story that wants revision, and to get the writing-mill up to speed without tangling any plot-threads in the gears.

But I have at long last finished the experimental revision of Book I, Chapter 1. To my dismay it’s actually about a thousand words longer than before, because I wanted to establish some things firmly up front and ignore them later on. It takes wordage to state or at least foreshadow the stakes. On the other hand, I see an opportunity to completely eliminate at least three chapters from Book I later on. In the end I hope to cut at least another 10 percent.

If any of you who have read the previous draft would like to see the new one and compare, I shall be more than happy to send it to you.
