Someone — and I shall be very interested to discover who — had this to say about one of the major supporting characters in the Magnificent Octopus:
‘Cruel as a cat, that one. Would rather wound than kill. Would rather wound a friend than an enemy: with a friend, he can linger to enjoy it.’
Unfortunately, the person who said this is another character in the Octopus, and I didn’t recognize the voice, so I don’t (yet) know who it was. I foresee interesting scenes when I find out.
